Christian Eedes’ Top 12 Wines of 2011

One of my favourite wino blogs is Christian Eedes’ What I Drank Last Night. In case you’re not aware, Christian was editor of Wine magazine and is a wine judge for the Veritas awards (amongst numerous others) as well as serving on the panel of John Platter’s Wine Guide. Well-respected, one might say.

These are his top dozen wines for 2011. “To appear on the list, they had to be from South Africa and in general circulation,” says Christian. “Some are established benchmarks, others are relative newcomers that I think show the way forward.”

1. Constantia Uitsig Semillon 2009

2. De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve Port 2009

3. Delaire Coastal Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2011

4. Ernie Els CWG 2009

5. Kanonkop Pinotage 2009

6. Keermont Terrasse 2010

7. KWV The Mentors Grenache Blanc 2010

8. Meerlust Rubicon 2007

9. Mullineux Family Syrah 2009

10.Oak Valley Chardonnay 2010
